The Omen That Waited
Modern Mystic Manual
There are some stories in life that don't ask to be explained.
They simply ask to be remembered.
This is one of them.
November 2021
One afternoon, a package appeared on my doorstep.
No note.
No explanation.
Inside was an owl pendant.
Not just any owl, either. A large blue crystal owl with oversized eyes that immediately caught my attention.
The strange part wasn't the pendant.
It was that I had no idea who sent it.
The owl stories were mostly an inner-circle conversation back then. It wasn't something I talked about publicly. Tracy and I tried to trace where it came from, but we couldn't figure it out.
Eventually we jokingly started calling it...
"The Omen."
The Funny Part...
I didn't even like owls.
Well... that's not entirely true.
I was fascinated by them.
I'd watched documentaries, including The Staircase, where the owl theory became one of those unforgettable rabbit holes. I respected these magnificent creatures from a distance.
But I also had a healthy fear of them.
I rarely went outside at night without wearing a hat.
Somewhere in the back of my mind, I genuinely thought,
"I don't want to become prey."
So I kept the pendant...
...and tucked it away with my jewelry.
Then I forgot about it.
For years.
Nearly Four Years Later...
While getting ready for the Tesla Science Center Expo, I was digging through my jewelry looking for something different to wear.
I found the owl.
I picked it up.
Held it for a moment.
Thought about where it came from.
Thought about why I'd kept it.
I never actually put it on.
I simply left it out where I could see it.
Then I went to the event.
The Unexpected Highlight
I showed up expecting technology.
Innovation.
Tesla.
Science.
Instead...
I found myself standing face-to-face with an owl.
Not watching one.
Touching one.
Learning about one.
Spending time with one.
The fear I'd carried for years quietly disappeared, replaced by something much better.
Respect.
Curiosity.
Wonder.
Full Circle
Later that night, after I got home and started getting ready for bed, I looked down and saw the pendant sitting where I'd left it.
I picked it up.
Smiled.
And thought...
"Well... you finally touched an owl."
Make of It What You Will
I still don't know who sent the pendant.
Maybe someone simply thought I'd like it.
Maybe it was a shipping mistake.
Maybe Amazon and Jeff Bezos accidentally became part of one of the stranger stories in my life.
I honestly don't know.
And that's okay.
Not every story needs an explanation.
Sometimes life quietly places little bookmarks throughout our journey...
Only for us to recognize them years later.
Whether you call it coincidence...
Timing...
Symbolism...
Or simply a good story...
I'm just glad I kept the owl.

Donna After Dark Reflection
I've learned that life isn't made meaningful by checking boxes, fixing metadata, answering emails, or chasing algorithms.
It's made meaningful by the stories that interrupt all of that.
The unexpected conversations.
The strangers we meet.
The moments that change us.
The things we never could have planned.
Maybe that's why I write.
Not to prove the extraordinary...
But to make sure I never forget it.
